Beware of illusions in Futures: Why risk management is everything 🧠📉
Today I was testing the dynamics of futures trading on the XAUUSDT pair
using a TradFi position coupon. Although trading with 20x leverage sounds tempting for multiplying profits, the technical and mathematical reality is clear: leverage is a double-edged sword.
🔹 The Hedge Mode myth: Many beginners believe that opening opposite positions (Long and Short at the same time) "protects" their account. In reality, most of the time it's a psychological trap: it doesn't eliminate losses, it just freezes them while the friction from opening/closing fees and Funding Rates erodes capital.
🔹 Clear strategy > Emotion: The only real and effective hedge against a mistaken analysis is a well-executed Stop Loss. For this trade, I'm keeping a realistic TP relative to $XAU at 4,350 $USDT and an SL at 3,970 $USDT (above liquidation), letting probability and market structure do their work without leaving room for stress or overtrading.
💡 Do you usually use Hedge Mode, or do you prefer trading with a strict Stop Loss in One-Way Mode? Let me know in the comments!
