From 2 to 4 p.m., $TIA surged from 0.624 to around 0.715 over two hourly candles; it wasn’t until 7:20 p.m. that Celestia’s official account announced Eden.
The sequence was backwards. So don’t simply read today’s move as “Eden news sent the price up.”
Here’s what we can verify:
· @celestia announced Eden on 10/16—a high-performance EVM chain running on Celestia, designed as a testing ground for AI Agent on-chain trading. Its first experiment, botfun, is a closed test: agents launch tokens themselves and hype each other’s narratives, with every inference call paid for on-chain via x402. The community says Eden uses TIA for gas.
· Already on the calendar: validator signaling for the Celestia v10 (Fibre) upgrade has passed 5/6, and validator Cumulo estimates activation on 10/20. The Upbit notice shared by the community also says TIA deposits and withdrawals will be suspended on 10/20 due to the hard fork.
So that afternoon move looks more like capital positioning ahead of “upgrade week,” with Eden added to the story later that evening.
What I care more about is how the market reacted once that story was added: the price didn’t dump on the news. Instead, it climbed to 0.7233 at 10 p.m., its highest level since the start of 2026. It’s now around 0.70, up about 14% on Binance spot over 24 hours, with the day’s trading volume the highest in nearly a month. Meanwhile, $BTC is still down by a little over 1%.
I’m bullish on this trade. The upgrade hasn’t gone live yet, and the Agent chain has given TIA a new use case as gas. After the news broke, there were clearly more buyers stepping in than people taking profits. The question now is whether this excitement can translate into real on-chain usage around 10/20, rather than just staying on the timeline.
