In the past hour, Binance futures liquidations totaled approximately $4.32 million, with long positions accounting for 73.9% ($3.2 million in longs / $1.13 million in shorts). The largest liquidation was $BTC , at $1.68 million.
When I first saw the liquidation figures, I was shocked. Only later did I understand that these amounts are the total notional value of the positions, not the actual losses. Also, Binance’s data is based on snapshots, with at most one update per trading pair per second, so the actual scale is often larger.
The key to leveraged trading is this: even if your prediction ultimately turns out to be right, price fluctuations along the way can still liquidate your position prematurely.
Learning to read indicators is easy. The hard part is sticking to your plan when the market is at its most exciting.
