95.5% of coins are up, with $TIA gaining 31.43% and $INJ following with 27.51%. On the surface, it looks like a broad-market celebration, but a closer look at fund flows tells a different story.

$BTC 24h trading volume was 1.30B, and ETH’s was 782.7M. But USDC was way out in front with 3.22B in trading volume. Money is sitting idle in stablecoins instead of entering the spot market—this is what you might call a “wait-and-see rally.”

The derivatives market makes the picture even clearer: BTC open interest ticked up 0.97% in 1h, with a long/short ratio of 1.62, giving longs a slight edge. ETH open interest, by contrast, fell 0.48% in 1h, while its long/short ratio reached 2.52. Long positions are heavy, but little new money is coming in to support them—it’s purely sentiment-driven.

This morning, the head of the OCC said the rules for the GENIUS Act would be released before the end of October. That’s a long-term positive, but some of it has already been priced in in the short term. The Fear & Greed Index is at 63, in greed territory—which is usually not the best time to enter. At $BTC 82,030, as long as the price holds above 81,000, the trend remains bullish. If it breaks below that, the rationale behind this rebound will need to be reassessed.

How many times have you seen a broad rally with this kind of “volume-price divergence”?
