$TIA up 16% in a day, hitting a new yearly high: Altcoin Season Index climbs to 60
$TIA is firmly locked in at the top of today’s gainers: CoinDesk data this morning (October 16) showed it up 16%, breaking above $0.68—the strongest performer across the CD100—and setting a new high for 2026. At the time of writing (the evening of the 16th, Beijing time), it had already touched the $0.70 mark. The 48-hour candlestick chart shows it climbing all the way from $0.53, up 25.6% (Kraken hourly chart).
The leaderboard is all green:
$TIA +16% (~$0.68) | INJ +7.7% (~$9.19) | ZRO +7.3% (~$2.24)
Four out of five CD100 members are up, and CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index has climbed from 50 to 60—the big players are setting the stage, and the small caps are really starting to party.
Why this one? CoinDesk pointed to two solid catalysts: Celestia Fibre hit 3.07 Tbps in throughput benchmark tests, and the community is also pushing an economic model upgrade proposal called the Sustainable Blob Economy. A technical narrative plus upgrade expectations have brought fresh attention to the old modular blockchain sector. Over the past four weeks, $TIA has gained about 59%.
There’s also a macro tailwind: Fed Chair Warsh declined to reveal the Fed’s October rate decision at the IMF meeting in Bangkok, and CME’s odds of an October rate hike fell from 30% to around 15%. As risk appetite returns, money tends to flow first into higher-volatility small caps.
A reality check: $TIA ’s all-time high was $21.19 (February 2024, according to OKX). At $0.70, it has recovered only 3% of the way. Chasing the price at this level is like catching a falling knife halfway down the hill; a 10% pullback wouldn’t even make it blink.
My take: An Altcoin Season Index of 60 isn’t the finish line. Money is clearly shifting from Bitcoin to small caps. But it’s flowing into coins with a narrative—those without one may only follow the rally for a day before fading.
