The Venezuelan USDT P2P market exhibits two spreads that do not describe the same phenomenon. Radar P2P, captured on October 16, 2026, at 10:00:09 UTC, reports an aggregated buy price of Bs. 1,012.52 and a sell price of Bs. 954.55: a difference of 57.97 bolívares, equivalent to 6.07%. Twenty-five seconds earlier, at 09:59:44 UTC, the real order book on Binance and other platforms showed a best ask of Bs. 1,001.40 and a best bid of Bs. 1,000.01, with a spread of 0.14% and a midpoint price of Bs. 1,000.70.
The gap between the two figures is around 43 times. That is where this analysis begins: the market average and the price at which a trade can actually be executed are not the same thing, and confusing them is the most common source of miscalculations before trading.
📊 The double spread, explained in one line
The aggregate spread measures the gap between the average of all buy listings and the average of all sell listings: it includes small offers, low minimum amounts, banks with little liquidity, and payment rails that users often cannot access. The executable spread measures the gap between the best available offer and the best available bid at that moment. The first is a market thermometer; the second is the figure used to calculate the real cost of entering or exiting a trade.
Put another way: 1,012.52 Bs is not the price at which you buy, and 954.55 Bs is not the price at which you sell. They are weighted averages across a varied basket of listings.
📈 Three sources, three different prices
We cross-referenced the three available measurements over the same time window. These are facts, not interpretations:
Source Buy USDT Sell USDT Spread
Aggregate P2P Radar (10:00:09 UTC) 1,012.52 Bs 954.55 Bs 6.07%
Binance order book + other platforms (09:59:44 UTC) 1,001.40 Bs (best ask) 1,000.01 Bs (best bid) 0.14%
Banesco comparison 1,009.56 Bs 984.93 Bs 2.50%
Pago Móvil comparison 1,012.50 Bs 974.27 Bs 3.92%
Mercantil comparison 1,005.06 Bs 997.97 Bs 0.71%
BCV reference 880.12 Bs — —
The “Other method” figure (1,011.00 Bs / 973.13 Bs, 3.89%) falls in the same range as Pago Móvil, suggesting that much of the aggregate is made up of listings using alternative payment rails rather than the banks with the greatest depth.
🔎 What’s behind 1,001.40: real depth
The best ask in the order book is not just a quote: it is a concrete offer. At 1,001.40 Bs, there are 5,971.76 USDT in a single listing, with Banco de Venezuela and BANK as the banks, and a per-transaction limit of 597.18 to 5,971.76 USDT. One level up, at 1,001.50 Bs, there are 14,437.45 USDT.
Adding the first fifteen sell-side levels up to 1,005.00 Bs gives a total of around 108,973 USDT. All that volume is available within just 0.36% of the best ask. In other words, anyone who needs to convert a medium-sized amount into USDT will not have to pay 1,012.52 Bs, but a price close to the upper edge of the order book.
The buy side looks similar. At 1,000.01 Bs, there are 9,660.11 USDT (Pago Móvil, via other platforms); at 1,000.00 Bs, another 62,607.99 USDT; and at 999.50 Bs, a further 40,624.51 USDT. That is around 112,893 USDT within just 0.05% below the best bid. Liquidity is not the problem: the problem is that the average conceals it.
💰 Bank-by-bank comparison: the spread also depends on the payment rail
The bank-by-bank comparison confirms a useful pattern: the internal spread varies much more than the aggregate suggests. Mercantil has a 0.71% gap between its average buy and sell prices, with a midpoint of 1,001.52 Bs that practically matches the order book mid (1,000.70 Bs). Banesco’s spread widens to 2.50%, and Pago Móvil’s to 3.92%, with 32 listings and a 23.4% share of liquidity—the highest on the board.
