$DOGE and $LTC have been linked through “merged mining” since 2014. What is it? It’s a method where a miner submits the proof of work they computed once to both blockchains at the same time. Why do this? A chain with a low hashrate borrows security from a larger chain. In fact, after $DOGE joined, its mining hashrate once surged by more than 1,500%. Its security is tied to another chain’s mining environment, so conditions on that chain also affect the safety of $DOGE (Source: Binance Academy, 2026-10-16).
