At three in the morning, I came across Dusk on Ethereum mainnet and just sat there staring at it for ages.

It wasn’t because I cared about the price. This thing really struck a chord with me.

In plain English, Covenants are just this: an encrypted instruction locked behind conditions. Until those conditions are met, nobody can read it.

Your orders, your stop-losses, your bids—all sealed up and put on-chain. Your counterparties can’t see them, frontrunning bots can’t see them, and Nillion itself can’t see them either. Once the price and timestamp line up, Blacklight nodes hand over their key shares, the instruction is unlocked, and it goes to settlement.

The shares are split up, with each node holding just one. No one can put them back together.

So it’s not “trust me”—it’s “no one can.”

Dusk is the first step in Nillion’s seven-stage roadmap: the first Covenant, deployed on Ethereum L1, which just went live on September 28.

Why did I stare at it for so long? In on-chain trading, what retail traders lose most often isn’t money—it’s privacy. Everyone knows where you’ve placed your stop-loss. Your strategy is laid bare.

$NIL Around 0.085 right now. I won’t talk about the price; I’ll just say this: privacy is the last missing piece of the on-chain trading puzzle.
