BlackRock’s crypto AUM surged 63% in Q3
IBIT is gaining momentum
Institutional money is returning to crypto

Guys,
BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, just released its latest earnings report.
Crypto asset AUM jumped 63% quarter over quarter in Q3,
from $48.8 billion to $79.6 billion.
The outflow trend from the first half of the year has officially reversed.

That’s a total increase of $30.8 billion.
Damn,
are institutions all coming back now?

But take a closer look:
$22.9 billion of that was unrealized gains from rising coin prices.
Actual new net inflows were only $7.9 billion.
Put simply,
most of the growth in BlackRock’s crypto assets came from BTC and ETH going up,
not from new money coming in.

But guys,
even after a 63% surge,
its current AUM of $79.6 billion
is still 23% below last year’s peak of $104 billion.
It hasn’t returned to its all-time high yet.
Over the past 12 months, $6.3 billion in new money came in,
but falling coin prices wiped $30.6 billion off its market value.

Still, whatever the case,
this news at least shows that
top traditional asset managers around the world haven’t given up on crypto.
During the pullback, clients reallocated into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs,
which shows that traditional long-term investors still want crypto exposure.

That’s a good thing.
As long as people keep playing,
it’s definitely bullish.
