$ETH

Risk Alert
Ethereum liquidations account for 60% of the entire crypto market
ETH is far more sensitive to leverage than Bitcoin

Guys,
that wick this morning
wiped out the ETH bulls in one shot.

According to the latest Coinglass data,
in this 24-hour wave of liquidations across the crypto market,
$977 million was liquidated market-wide,
with $896 million from longs.
Ethereum alone accounted for $293 million in liquidations,
60% of the entire market.
Although BTC has a larger market cap,
ETH was where most of the liquidations happened.
184,000 traders got wiped out.
Binance alone saw $516 million in liquidations.
Leveraged funds are piling into Ethereum.

ETH traders really got hit hard this time.
ETH's notional open interest is clearly lower than Bitcoin's,
but its liquidation amount was actually higher.
What does that tell us?

It tells us that ETH traders are generally using higher leverage.
Even a small move can trigger forced liquidations.

Why is ETH more prone to liquidations?
Mainly because ETH is inherently more volatile than Bitcoin.
With the same leverage,
ETH is more likely to hit the liquidation threshold.
Another reason is that
a lot of altcoin and DeFi funds are closely tied to ETH.
Many people use ETH as collateral to open futures positions.

So,
why did ETH fall twice as much as Bitcoin?
Because of mass liquidations.
When short positions are liquidated,
they trigger forced buying, pushing prices up
and causing a cascade.

And ETH is the main liquidity pool for altcoins.
If leveraged ETH positions get liquidated,
the impact can quickly spread across the entire altcoin sector.

Compared with Ethereum,
Bitcoin is more stable,
and more capital is flowing into spot ETFs.
On the ETH side, there are more futures positions.
So,
big swings happen more often.

ETH hasn't bottomed out yet.
