BTC: Short-Term Holder Profit/Loss Momentum Indicator

Profit momentum measures how quickly short-term holders are realizing profits relative to the one-year norm: short-term holder realized profits ÷ realized losses, then the 7-day average of that ratio ÷ its 365-day average. A value above 1 indicates that profits are being realized faster than the one-year norm.

Momentum Expansion · Reported Momentum 1.07×
The 7-day profit/loss ratio is about 1.70, versus a 365-day average of about 1.59; it has fallen about 87% from the 180-day peak of 8.42×.
The reference period starts on 2026-08-20. As of 2026-10-14, it is around day 55, with about 63 days remaining in the historical average window of approximately 118 days.

Zone guide: Near-zero accumulation <0.5×, weak recovery 0.5–1×, momentum expansion 1–3×, euphoric distribution ≥8×. The current reading is in the momentum expansion zone, but still far from the euphoric zone. It is more useful to watch whether spot demand can absorb profit-taking; it should not be used on its own as a buy or sell signal.
