#kospi收跌7.57%盘中触发熔断
South Korea’s stock market has hit circuit breakers yet again 😂! I’ve lost count of how many times it’s happened this year.
The rooftops are about to be packed with Korean guys.
On October 15, South Korea’s stock market had a “Black Thursday.” The KOSPI closed down 7.57% at 5,554.22 points, while the KOSDAQ fell 7.65%. Both indexes plunged more than 8% during the day, triggering circuit breakers one after the other and halting trading for 20 minutes each—the tenth time South Korea’s stock market has triggered circuit breakers this year.
In a single day, the combined market value of the KOSPI and KOSDAQ evaporated by 410 trillion won. Samsung Electronics plunged 9.48%, while SK Hynix tumbled 10.01%. The KOSPI has fallen for seven consecutive trading days, shedding a total of 1,449.52 points, or 21%.
Who’s dumping stocks? Foreign investors!!!
This month alone, foreign investors have been net sellers of 17.8 trillion won worth of KOSPI shares, “selling and not buying” for eight consecutive trading days. Since the start of the year, they have pulled out more than $130 billion—the largest outflow in Asia. Financing bottlenecks for AI infrastructure and concerns over investment returns are shaking the foundations of South Korean semiconductor stocks’ valuations.
But after an emergency meeting, the Financial Services Commission concluded that the market showed signs of an “overreaction.”
People caught up in panic often can’t see those four words: “signs of an overreaction.”
