$BTC Calling for Bitcoin to drop to 75,000 as soon as CPI comes out? That’s too one-sided a view.
Last night’s CPI data came in somewhat bearish, and plenty of people online immediately predicted Bitcoin would crash below 75,000—or even to 60,000. I don’t think that reasoning is reliable.
For Bitcoin to fall to 75,000, it would first have to break below 80,000. It hasn’t even lost the 80,000 level yet, so it’s too early to talk about 75,000. For now, the market is simply pulling back and consolidating; that doesn’t mean the bulls have surrendered. Even if it breaks below 82,500 later, institutions could be using the opportunity to rebuild their positions. That doesn’t mean the market will keep falling—there’s no such thing as a guaranteed one-way move.

You can certainly bet on a one-way move, but you can’t be certain Bitcoin will crash to 75,000. It could also rebound first. Factors like falling oil prices could trigger a Bitcoin rally at any time. CPI is a minor bearish factor, so there’s no need to overstate its impact. The key thing to watch this week is Worsh’s speech on Friday—that’s what matters next.
In short: don’t blindly go short before the 80,000 level breaks.

I’ll keep sharing my outlook for Friday’s speech and real-time responses to Bitcoin’s key support and resistance levels in the group.
