TradFi News | Hot CPI Print Lifts US Inflation to 3.7%, Gold Drops $40
US consumer price inflation accelerated to 3.7% in September from 3.4% in August, overshooting the 3.6% economists expected. Core CPI rose to 2.6% from 2.4%, also above forecast. Gold fell roughly $40 within minutes of the release to $4,129.60 an ounce and silver dropped $1 to $58.07.Gasoline Did Most of the DamageThe 1.1 point gap between headline inflation at 3.7% and core at 2.6% is the whole explanation.Average US regular gasoline rose 7.3% over the month, from $4.058 to $4.355 a gallon, on EIA data. Energy is excluded from the core measure, so a fuel spike lands entirely in the headline number and leaves core largely untouched. That makes this a supply-driven print rather than evidence of broad price pressure — a distinction central banks weigh heavily, because monetary policy does little about the price of crude.Core Didn’t Accelerate, It Failed to SlowCore CPI came in at 0.3% month over month against the 0.2% expected, and the framing matters.August core was also 0.3%. Forecasters were looking for a step down that didn’t arrive, so the beat reflects stalled progress rather than a fresh acceleration. Underlying inflation is running at the same monthly pace it did last month, which annualises to roughly 3.7%.Headline monthly inflation did accelerate, to 0.6% from 0.4%, consistent with the fuel move.Metals Sold Off on the Rate ReadGold and silver both fell, which is the mechanical response rather than a surprise.Hot inflation pushes expected rate cuts further out. Later cuts mean higher real yields for longer, and higher real yields raise the opportunity cost of holding assets that generate no income. Gold and silver are the clearest examples, so they take the hit first.A stronger dollar on the same logic compounds it, since both metals are priced in dollars. The Fed Watches a Different GaugeCPI moves markets, but the Federal Reserve’s stated target is the PCE price index, which weights healthcare and housing differently and has been running cooler.August PCE came in softer than forecast, and policymakers have leaned dovish in recent remarks. A hot CPI driven by gasoline sits awkwardly against that, and it is unlikely to settle the next decision on its own.The signal to watch is whether the core monthly pace breaks below 0.3%. Until it does, the case for cuts rests on labour market weakness rather than on inflation returning to target.

Bitcoin News | Bitcoin Loses $83,000 Again as One Inflation Print Turns Stocks, Gold and Crypto Negative Together
Bitcoin fell below $83,000 on Wednesday after September inflation data came in hotter than forecast, surrendering the level it had reclaimed two sessions earlier. US stock index futures flipped from positive to negative, with Nasdaq futures down 0.5%, while spot gold lost close to 1% and spot silver close to 2%.Bitcoin Gave Back the Week’s Recovery in Two SessionsThe $83,000 level has changed hands three times this week.Bitcoin sat below it after Monday’s selloff, reclaimed it during Tuesday’s rebound, and lost it again on Wednesday’s inflation print. The net effect is a round trip rather than a fresh leg down, and it leaves the asset roughly where it started the week. That pattern says the rebound was never built on anything durable. A recovery that one data release can fully undo was a positioning move, not a shift in the underlying bid.Everything Moved the Same Way, and Nothing Moved FarThe coordination across asset classes is the more useful observation than any single percentage.Equity futures, both precious metals and Bitcoin all repriced lower within minutes of the same release. That uniformity points to a single driver — the expected path of interest rates — rather than anything specific to any one market. The magnitudes are modest. A half-percent on index futures and one to two percent on metals, following an inflation overshoot of 0.1 percentage point on both the headline and core measures, describes an orderly adjustment of rate assumptions. It is not a market in distress, and the data does not support stronger language than that.Futures Turned Negative Rather Than Opening LowerThe three major US index futures were trading higher before the release and reversed after it.A mid-session flip is a cleaner read on how the data landed than a negative open would be, because it isolates the release as the cause. Traders who were positioned for a softer print had to reverse within the same session.Silver’s Double Move Is Normal, Not a Separate SignalSilver fell roughly twice as much as gold, which is the usual ratio on a rate-driven day.Silver carries industrial demand alongside its store-of-value role, so it absorbs both the rate signal and any implied hit to growth. It also trades in a thinner market, which amplifies moves in both directions. Neither fact makes its decline a distinct story. The Rate Channel Is Doing the WorkThe transmission runs in one direction. Inflation above forecast steepens the expected policy path, higher expected rates raise the return on holding cash and the dollar, and every asset that competes with cash reprices lower.Rate futures moved with it on Wednesday, with traders adding to bets on further Fed tightening through 2027. For Bitcoin, that channel has been the dominant input through October, and this session was another instance of it rather than a departure. What would change the picture is the core monthly figure breaking below 0.3%, which it has now failed to do for two consecutive months.

Economists surveyed by Reuters expect September headline inflation to rise to 3.6% from 3.4% in August. Stronger-than-expected inflation could extend Bitcoin selling pressure, while softer inflation may support renewed investment.
Crypto News | Traders Bet on Three More Fed Hikes, Overtaking the Fed’s Own Forecast
US short-term interest rate futures fell on Wednesday as traders moved to price three further Federal Reserve rate hikes by the end of 2027, following a September inflation print that came in above forecast on both the headline and core measures. The Dollar Index climbed about 0.40 points to 102.52.The Market Is Now More Hawkish Than the FedThe fed funds target sits at 3.75% to 4.00% after September’s quarter-point increase, the first hike since 2023 and a unanimous decision.Three more hikes from that midpoint of 3.875% imply a rate approaching 4.625%. The Fed’s own September dot plot puts the 2027 median at 4.1%, roughly one additional hike in total, with eight participants projecting a further move that year. That leaves market pricing about 50 basis points above the committee’s own central projection. The direction of the gap is what changed: for most of this quarter traders were pricing less tightening than the Fed signalled, and the market has now jumped past it.Falling Futures Mean Rising RatesShort-term interest rate futures are quoted as 100 minus the expected interest rate, so the contract price moves inversely to rate expectations.A fall in those futures is traders paying up for higher rates, not a sell-off in any conventional sense. It is the cleanest available read on where the market thinks policy is heading, because it is a position rather than a forecast. The Dollar Did What Higher Rates Make It DoThe Dollar Index gained roughly 0.40 points to 102.52, continuing a grind higher from around 101.81 earlier in the week.Higher expected US rates widen the yield advantage of holding dollars, which draws capital toward dollar assets and bids the currency up. The same mechanism pushed gold down about $40 to $4,129.60 and silver down $1 to $58.07 — both pay no yield, so a higher-for-longer rate path raises the cost of owning them. The Trigger Was a Gasoline-Driven PrintSeptember headline CPI came in at 3.7% against 3.6% expected, up from 3.4% in August. Core CPI rose to 2.6% from 2.4%, above the 2.5% forecast, with the monthly core rate holding at 0.3% rather than cooling to the 0.2% expected. The composition complicates the hawkish read. Average US gasoline rose 7.3% over the month, which accounts for most of the 1.1 point gap between headline and core. Energy-driven inflation is the kind monetary policy has least purchase on.Markets priced the overshoot anyway, and the core figure’s refusal to slow for a second month gives them a defensible reason.

The S&P 500 declined 1.11% to 7,718.94 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.88% to 26,692.87 on Wednesday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 48.62 points, or 0.09%, to 51,621.48, with healthcare stocks including UnitedHealth and Amgen cushioning the blue-chip index's decline. According to Sina Finance, the selloff was driven by AI-related trading losses and investor reaction to September consumer inflation data that exceeded expectations. September CPI rose 0.6% month-over-month and 3.7% year-over-year, above the 3.6% forecast, while core CPI increased 0.3% MoM and 2.6% YoY, also exceeding economist estimates of 0.2% and 2.5%. Osaic chief market strategist Philip Bracato said this makes a December Federal Reserve move highly likely and projected core CPI could reach 3% next year given rising oil prices. Chip stocks extended their recent slide, with Micron Technology falling 4% after a 3% drop on Tuesday, Advanced Micro Devices and SanDisk each declining over 5%, and Intel dropping 4%. CoreWeave plunged more than 15% and Oracle fell nearly 9% amid concerns about excessive debt use in the AI boom. WTI crude futures rose 1.01% to $95.09 per barrel, while Brent crude gained nearly 1% to $106.50. ASML's US-listed shares fell 1% despite the company reporting that equipment demand would remain unmet for the next two years. GameStop rose 2% after CEO Ryan Cohen purchased 844,000 shares. Albemarle surged 3% after Mizuho upgraded the stock to outperform. Dell fell over 2.5% and HPE nearly 4% after Barclays downgraded both to neutral. The US 10-year Treasury yield fell 1 basis point to 5.19%, while the 30-year yield dropped 2 basis points to 5.58%. The dollar index held at 102.17, and spot gold declined 0.3% to $4,142.85.

JackYi said the main point is to stick to established principles without being influenced by short-term moves, while maintaining the mindset that investment research is never 100% accurate. He added that the only question now is how far Bitcoin may fall before a new buying opportunity emerges, and compared the outlook with the 2023 Bitcoin bull market. U.S. Treasury Yields Pull Back After CPI as Market Weighs Inflation Data and Fed Remarks
According to Jin10, U.S. Treasury prices rebounded sharply overnight, reversing an earlier selloff triggered by the latest hotter inflation data, and yields on most maturities turned lower. U.S. official data showed September CPI rose 3.7% year over year, above the market forecast of 3.6%. After the release, the 2-year Treasury yield climbed to its highest level in more than two weeks before easing back along with longer-dated yields. Traders' bets on a Fed rate hike in October rose from 22% before the data to about 40%, then slipped to 33% by the time of reporting. TD Securities U.S. rates strategist Brooks said the shift in hike odds and bond yields was likely closely tied to recent dovish remarks from several officials, including New York Fed President John C. Williams and Fed Vice Chair Philip Jefferson. Brooks said a 50/50 chance of an October hike now seemed reasonable, as the data may be sending one signal while the Fed is sending another.

Robinhood Says More Than 150,000 Users Have Opened AI Trading Accounts
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said in a recent interview that a large share of retail trading could eventually be initiated by AI. According to ChainCatcher, he said agents could monitor markets around the clock and handle trades across stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies, while most capital may still remain in long-term holdings. Robinhood allowed users in May to connect third-party AI agents for trading through MCP, and by the end of September it said more than 150,000 customers had opened dedicated trading accounts after integrating agents directly into its app. Funds are still restricted to separate accounts, and agents can view information from users' other accounts but can place orders only within the dedicated account after users transfer funds in manually. Tenev said it would not be technically difficult to connect agents directly to primary accounts, but the company is choosing to expand permissions gradually. He also said the built-in agent requires users to approve each trade by default, while external agents connected through MCP do not require per-trade approval unless users turn it on themselves. He added that he envisions retail investors deploying trading strategies on servers located close to exchanges to reduce order latency, and wants ordinary investors to use such infrastructure without needing to understand data centers or network engineering. Robinhood has not yet offered that service and has not announced a launch timeline.
