Key focus for the cryptocurrency market on October 14 (Wednesday): Release of U.S. September CPI data
Key focus for the cryptocurrency market on October 14 (Wednesday): Release of U.S. September CPI data The current date is October 12, 2026. BTC is trading in the $83,000–$84,000 range (briefly moving above $84,000 before retreating). September CPI will be released on October 14 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time (8:30 p.m. Beijing Time). This is the most important macro catalyst of the week and the key event influencing the short-term direction of cryptocurrencies. Why CPI matters so much for cryptocurrencies Market expectations: approximately 0.6% month over month and 3.6% year over year (core CPI: approximately 0.2% month over month). If the data comes in below expectations (cooling inflation) → expectations for further Fed rate cuts strengthen → risk assets benefit, and BTC/ETH and other cryptocurrencies could rebound.

$BNB Holy crap. Folks, that whole batch of CPI data just came out, and it was broadly above expectations—not just one item blowing up, the whole picture ran hot.🚨
The market panicked immediately: money pushed up the “rate hike probability” for the late-October policy meeting by a notch. But to put it plainly, the Fed will most likely still hold steady in late October, so don’t get swept up by sensational headlines. It’s not that the Fed doesn’t want to play tough—it just doesn’t dare flip the table for real: the job market isn’t that solid, debt issuance pressures are staring it in the face, and whenever stocks fall, the people at the top get more nervous than you do.🚨
So what’s this move? It’s not a sell-off over an “imminent rate hike,” but a slow bleed as rate-cut expectations get pushed back. What crypto fears most isn’t bad news itself—it’s “we thought they’d turn on the money taps by year-end, but $BTC now we have to tough it out a while longer.” Short-term bulls take a slap first, liquidity in altcoins keeps drying up, and futures traders are going to get liquidated in the middle of the night all over again.🚨
But don’t get carried away and open naked shorts. On a data day like this, the first candle is emotion; the second is money. Once the panic volume fades and support holds, it can actually be an opportunity for positions to change hands. Bad news being priced in ≠ an immediate surge. The most likely path from here is: hold sideways, grind everyone down, flush out leverage, then pick a direction.🚨#9月CPI来袭原油美债走势如何
Top Forecaster Warns: Fed Could Raise Rates by 50 Basis Points in December, with Policy Path for Early Next Year in Flux
Economist Jason Schenker, who was among the first to predict the Fed’s most recent rate hike, is now raising another possibility: if inflationary pressures persist, the Fed could raise rates by 50 basis points in December rather than the usual 25.
Jason Schenker, president of Prestige Economics, expects the Fed is unlikely to raise interest rates again at its meeting this month. He believes policymakers need to first observe the effects of the September rate hike before deciding whether to take more aggressive action at year-end.
“In December, if inflation has not been curbed more forcefully and substantially following the September rate hike, the Fed may choose to raise rates by 50 basis points instead of 25 to put greater pressure on inflation,” Schenker said.
