On October 14, PancakeSwap’s core team, The Kitchen, published a discussion draft titled “The Flip” on its governance forum. It proposes increasing the share of LP fees for v3 and Infinity liquidity pools to 88% (currently about two-thirds for most pools), with the protocol retaining 12% for the treasury. The change would cover all 11 supported chains, including BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Solana, and opBNB. Legacy v2 pools would remain unchanged because their fee settings are hard-coded; they would continue directing about 23% of trading fees toward burning $CAKE , remaining the primary burn channel. The team says that since the introduction of Tokenomics 3.0, supply has fallen by about 11.5%. This proposal continues to target a further 20% reduction in supply before 2030.

The proposal also seeks to cut daily $CAKE emissions from 22,500 to 7,000 (a reduction of about 69%), reducing new issuance by roughly 15,500 tokens per day. The remaining 7,000 tokens would go to a newly established ecosystem growth fund, Pantry, for marketing, partnerships, and liquidity incentives for new pools. According to the proposal, based on 2025 trading volume, LPs in v3 and Infinity could receive about $62 million more in fees. Trading fee tiers would remain unchanged, and LPs would not need to claim fees separately or lock up tokens; fees would continue to accrue automatically based on their existing positions. The document makes clear that the proposal is still under forum discussion and will be submitted to a Snapshot vote after community feedback is gathered. If approved, it is tentatively scheduled for a phased rollout across chains starting in November, with completion expected within about three months (by the end of January 2027). Separate announcements will be made when it launches on each chain. BNB Chain remains the protocol’s main battleground, and the proposal also has implications for trading depth and fee distribution in the $BNB ecosystem.
