Diesel isn’t just news for people who own a diesel car.

In an October 11 statement, the International Energy Agency warned of tight global supplies and urged member countries to speed up the release of reserves, prioritize diesel, and consider releasing additional volumes.

Why does this matter to us?

Because diesel powers trucks that transport goods and agricultural machinery that produces food. Any sustained increase in its cost could feed through to transportation and production costs… and ultimately to the prices of the things we buy.

In my view, keeping an eye on inflation sometimes starts with the fuel in a truck, before it reaches the supermarket shelves.
