Tell me about a trading mistake that left the biggest impression on me.
It was when I was just getting started with quantitative trading systems.
The system gave a short signal. I took one look and thought, “That’s the wrong direction,”
so I didn’t take the trade.
As it turned out, if I had taken it, the trade would have made 4R.
Even worse, later I “trusted my own judgment” and went long,
and got stopped out.
That day taught me something:
I designed a system because I don’t trust my own intuition.
If I don’t trust the system, what’s the point of having one?
From that day on, I stopped overriding the system’s signals.
