【There’s an unusual on-chain signal that’s far more interesting than DOGE’s price】

I noticed something while looking at the data recently: BTC’s market dominance has reached 59.3%. What does that mean? The entire altcoin market is being squeezed until it can barely breathe, while a coin like DOGE—which should have some momentum—has been moving sideways and drifting lower, down nearly 7% in seven days.

You might say, “Musk has stopped talking about it, so of course DOGE has stalled.”

That’s not wrong, but it doesn’t go deep enough. What I care more about is what’s happening on-chain: trading volume has stayed relatively high, but the price just isn’t moving. What does that mean? Either someone is quietly building a position, or retail investors are repeatedly selling at a loss. Those two scenarios could lead to completely different outcomes.

The 0.081337 support level is right beneath us. If it breaks, the price could head for the next support. If it holds, then we’ll see whether DOGE can reclaim the 0.086855 resistance on strong volume. It’s true: a directional move is getting close.

But here’s the practical question I want to ask: what are people still holding DOGE thinking?

DOGE’s appeal has never been a technological moat. It’s built on cultural consensus, celebrity influence, and community fervor. That formula worked in 2021 because there were few truly competitive blockchains back then, and narrative was everything. What about now? Solana is set to upgrade to 150-millisecond finality in October, and even South Korean chip stocks have rebounded on the AI narrative. Capital is clearly flowing toward technology-driven plays.

DOGE is down 88% from its peak. Cheap enough, right? But cheap doesn’t mean valuable. A low valuation is a reason, not an investment thesis.

The sentiment index is still at 62, in the greed zone. That’s a bit contradictory in itself: market sentiment isn’t bad, yet DOGE is performing like this. It suggests people may sound optimistic, but they’re selling.

I’m not saying DOGE is going to zero. Its meme status means it won’t simply die. But if you’re still waiting for another 2021-style rally, my view is that the market dynamics have changed. That rally was driven by an abundance of liquidity, a scarcity of compelling narratives, and a lack of competition. None of those three conditions hold today.

Are you still keeping an eye on DOGE? What do you think will drive its next rally?
