Why was a $16.46 million sell order placed at exactly $84,250?

On October 12, BTC hovered around $84,000. You don’t wait for direction to emerge—the price follows when someone makes the first move, and the traces are left on-chain.

AiCoin’s On-Chain Large Orders feature surfaced a massive order on October 12: a sell-to-open short worth $16.4623 million, placed at $84,250 and originating from Hyperliquid. The order was placed at 13:21 and began filling at 14:56. It remained open for 1 hour and 35 minutes, with the largest individual fill worth $718,800. These were actual trades.

But spotting a large order isn’t enough: Who’s selling? Is it worth following? That’s where a second indicator comes in—Smart Money Tracking. On-Chain Large Orders identifies “large trades and orders,” answering “Is big money moving?” Smart Money Tracking plots the marked accounts’ buy and sell points on the candlestick chart, answering “Who is moving?” One flags unusual activity; the other identifies the trader.

Look at the two together: On-Chain Large Orders shows a $16.46 million sell order at $84,250, originating on-chain from Hyperliquid. Smart Money Tracking marks the address’s opening and closing points, so you can see where the trader entered and exited. First identify who it is, then see how they trade.

The market moved in the direction this trade was betting on. From the time it began filling at 14:56 on October 12, the price plunged: down $2,973.44, or about 3.53%, across 207 five-minute candles, hitting a low of $81,033.66.

At 08:05 on October 13, this account began “buying to close” its short: 96.19 BTC at an average price of $81,700, worth $7.8581 million—closing exactly half the position. The remaining 96.19 BTC short stayed open, with an unrealized profit of about $42,300 at the time of the screenshot. After banking a 3.5% gain on half, the trader is letting the rest run.

You don’t have to keep watch yourself. Set up a Smart Money alert, and every time this trader opens, closes, or adds to a position, you’ll get notified. Even if you missed this sell order, the next time they make a move, the alert will reach you before the market does.

Going from “watching prices and guessing the direction” to “seeing who’s making a move” is a whole new level: an anonymous large order becomes trackable address activity that you can review later. Someone always moves before the market takes off; before, you couldn’t see who it was. Now, you can follow their every move.
