Who keeps sending money to Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet?
I just checked Satoshi Nakamoto’s address. Current holdings:
1.096 million coins, $BTC , worth $91.8 billion at the current price of $83,753, accounting for 5.22% of the entire network.
His genesis address: Over the past 15 years, it has received 57.65 BTC across 66,911 transactions. That’s about $72 per transaction, on average.
The largest was 26.9 BTC in early 2024—one transaction that made up more than 40% of the total received.
At the time, CB’s product lead Conor Grogan said: "Either Satoshi woke up and bought 27 bitcoins to put in his wallet, or someone burned a million dollars."
Why are people still sending Satoshi money every day?
To pay tribute, leave an on-chain message, or simply to become "someone who has sent money to Satoshi."
With 67,000 transactions, do you think this is really a tribute, or just a collective exercise in self-congratulation?
