‼️Binance shuts down its mining pool, while US stock derivatives grow 15-fold

On October 13, Binance announced that it would shut down Binance Pool at 07:00 UTC on November 10, while also discontinuing pool-related wealth management, cloud mining, the trading accelerator, hashrate alerts, and related APIs. After November 24, the history page will also become permanently inaccessible. The announcement did not mention spot or futures trading; the main users affected are miners and customers of pool-related wealth management products.

Meanwhile, Binance is rapidly expanding elsewhere: it has opened an AI trading interface to English-speaking users after testing it with around 150,000 people, and is offering options on more than 1,000 US stocks and ETFs through regulated brokers. Its monthly trading volume in traditional finance perpetual contracts has risen from $29.5 billion in January to $433.4 billion in August—about 15 times higher.

The announcement did not disclose profitability figures, so it is not yet possible to determine whether the mining pool business was losing money. But taken together, these products make the direction clear: Binance is scaling back its underlying hashrate business and shifting resources toward AI tools and multi-asset brokerage services, where trading is more frequent and fee opportunities are greater.

For miners, this shutdown means they must move their hashrate elsewhere; for Binance, it looks more like a business gear shift. The market it wants to compete for has expanded beyond crypto exchanges to global brokerage.
