BTC ETFs saw another $65.4 million in net outflows yesterday—but don’t panic just yet. This may actually be good news.
Fund flow data for October 13 (U.S. Tuesday):
1. U.S. spot BTC ETFs recorded $65.4 million in net outflows for the day, all from a single fund: IBIT;
2. By comparison, last week saw about $680 million in net outflows over the whole week—more than $100 million per day on average. Yesterday’s outflow was less than one-tenth of last week’s daily average;
3. Since the start of October, BTC ETFs have swung from a $320 million net inflow surplus to a $450 million deficit. Institutions are indeed reducing their positions;
4. Ethereum ETFs, meanwhile, have now seen net outflows for 10 consecutive trading days, and selling pressure has yet to ease;
5. Yet BTC has held above $83,000, with solid buying support around $82,000.
My take:
The most counterintuitive part of these figures is that “outflows are picking up, but the price isn’t falling.” The peak of panic redemptions by institutions has passed. Selling pressure has fallen from over $100 million a day on average to around $60 million, suggesting that buyers around $82,000 have absorbed this wave of selling. But don’t get optimistic just yet—the U.S. September CPI report comes out tonight at 20:30 (consensus: 3.7%), and institutions are unlikely to make a major return before the data is released.
Below expectations → rate hike expectations ease, opening the door to a rebound toward $86,000;
Above expectations → first watch whether the $82,000 support holds a second time.
Tonight is the key moment. If you’re heavily positioned, consider waiting until after the CPI release before making a move.

After tonight’s CPI release, do you think BTC will test $86,000 first, or pull back to $80,000? Share your thoughts in the comments.
