A P2P order book is a snapshot, not a crystal ball. It shows the orders posted at that moment —price, amount, bank, and limits— but it doesn’t tell you what the price will do next. This guide uses a real snapshot from October 13, 2026 (18:00 UTC, 14:00 in Venezuela) to teach you how to read depth, imbalance, and spread step by step, with figures in bolivars and no promises.
📊 What the P2P order book is and what it really measures
The P2P order book lists buy and sell ads for USDT against bolivars. Each row shows a price (Bs per USDT), an available amount, the originating exchange, the bank or payment method, and the offer’s minimum and maximum limits.
Two caveats separate a useful reading from noise:
• These are ads, not executed trades. A trader can edit, pause, or withdraw their order at any time.
• The book describes; it does not predict. A high imbalance reflects the visible pressure at that moment; it does not guarantee a subsequent price increase.
In the screenshot, the levels used to calculate depth add up to 39 buy offers and 33 sell offers, out of a base of 99 aggregated ads. Pago Móvil and Banesco appear as the dominant methods, followed by BANK, Banco de Venezuela, Mercantil, Provincial, Bancamiga, and BNC.
📈 Step 1: best ask, best bid, and mid-price
The two numbers that form the starting point for any analysis are:
• Best ask: 999.64 Bs. This is the lowest price at which someone is willing to sell you USDT.
• Best bid: 1,012.00 Bs. This is the highest price at which someone is willing to buy USDT from you.
• Mid-price (mid): 1,005.82 Bs, the midpoint between the two.
• Spread: 12.36 Bs, equivalent to 1.22% of the mid-price.
Here’s something that confuses many people: in this screenshot, the best bid (1,012) is higher than the best ask (999.64). This is not an error in the tool. The book simultaneously aggregates ads from other platforms (levels around 999.64–1,002.50 Bs), other platforms (starting at 1,004.99 Bs), and Binance (starting at 1,011 Bs). These are different platforms, payment methods, and limits shown in a single table.
This difference between the two sides cannot be exploited directly: executing on one platform does not settle on the other; each has its own KYC requirements, banks, and processing times. The mid-price of 1,005.82 Bs is a reference for analysis, not an executable price.
🔎 Step 2: cumulative depth and estimated slippage in bolivars
Depth is the volume available at each price. Without that information, the best ask is just bait. Here is the sell side (where you buy USDT), ordered from lowest to highest price:
Level (Bs/USDT) Amount (USDT) Cumulative (USDT)
999.64 1,076.11 1,076.11
999.90 592.48 1,668.59
1,002.50 360.22 2,028.81
1,004.99 101.71 2,130.52
1,005.00 300.00 2,430.52
1,005.99 263.29 2,693.81
1,007.00 218.60 2,912.41
1,007.49 70.12 2,982.53
1,007.50 105.00 3,087.53
Real example: if you wanted to cover 3,000 USDT, the book reaches exactly the ninth level. You would consume 2,982.53 USDT up to 1,007.49 Bs and an additional 17.47 USDT at 1,007.50 Bs. The total cost would be around 3,006,207 Bs, and the average price would be 1,002.07 Bs.
That’s slippage: (1,002.07 − 999.64) ÷ 999.64 ≈ 0.24% above the best ask. It seems small, but look at the details: to achieve it, you had to go through nine different offers, with different banks and limits. And those 3,000 USDT equal 6.5% of the total visible sell-side depth (46,266.72 USDT).
On the other side, the story is the opposite: the best bid at 1,012.00 Bs has 20,000 USDT in a single order, so selling 3,000 USDT there would result in virtually no slippage. Watch out for the catch: that order requires a minimum of 2,000 USDT. It isn’t available for smaller amounts.
💰 Step 3: the 95.47% imbalance and its fine print
Imbalance measures the relative weight of each side of the book: (1,994,480.40 − 46,266.72) ÷ (1,994,480.40 + 46,266.72) = 95.47% toward the buy side.
