This V-shaped reversal looks satisfying, but let me pour a little cold water on it.
$BTC briefly plunged below 81,000 in the morning session. Liquidations totaled $820 million for the day, with longs accounting for 84%—a classic Asia-session leverage washout, triggered by a 6% crash in South Korean chip stocks that set off a trading halt. Then the price bounced all the way back above 83,190 and held there, leaving it basically flat over 24 hours.
But here’s the question: who’s buying up the longs that got wiped out?
Funding rates have turned negative, meaning shorts are starting to pay in the futures market. On the spot ETF side, Bitcoin ETFs saw just $21 million in inflows today, while ETH ETFs are still seeing outflows—now for 10 straight days, totaling nearly $800 million. The buyers behind this rebound aren’t ETFs; they’re accumulators like BitMine, which now holds nearly 5% of the ETH supply, with 84% of its holdings staked. Institutions are selling ETFs while accumulating coins on-chain. That’s contradictory positioning, not a bull market.
Altcoins were a real litmus test today: $STX was up 11%, RENDER gained 10%, and PYTH rose 7%—all outliers backed by genuine trading volume. On the other side, there’s STRK: after yesterday’s unlock wave, it fell another 28% today. The top gainer yesterday became the biggest loser today—that’s the cost of chasing a rally.
My take: tonight through tomorrow is the eve of a market shift. In the short term, 81,000–84,200 is a wait-and-see zone. I won’t touch leverage before CPI. But on the weekly chart, the 13- and 34-week moving averages just formed their first golden cross in three and a half years—a slow-moving trend is turning bullish. These two forces are colliding, and CPI (tomorrow night at 20:30, forecast at 3.7%) will be the referee.
Let’s be clear about the invalidation levels: a decisive break below 81,000, and I’d treat this rebound as a bull trap; only a sustained hold above 84,200 would open up further upside.

Do you think CPI will come in above or below expectations? Let me know in the comments—I want to see the bull/bear ratio.
Risk warning: This is just my personal review and opinion, not investment advice. If trading futures, be sure to manage your position size.
