🚨 September CPI Watch: Tomorrow is Inflation Showdown Day! 🚨
All eyes are on the U.S. economy! The September Consumer Price Index report will be released on Wednesday, October 15, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. ET — the last major inflation reading before the Federal Reserve meeting on October 27 and 28.
Forecasts: The CPI is expected to rise 0.5% in September, following a 0.4% increase in August, and reach 3.6% year over year, up from 3.4% in August. Core CPI is expected to rise 0.2% month over month, following 0.3%, and remain at 2.4% year over year. Some analysts expect headline inflation to reach 3.7% year over year, with the increase accelerating as Brent crude prices surpass $105!
Why does it matter? Gold could rise if CPI comes in below expectations, but a stronger reading could prompt further interest rate hikes. The CME FedWatch tool indicates an 80% probability that interest rates will remain unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%. The odds of a rate hike have fallen to 19.4%, down from 42.5% a month ago.
Bitcoin is consolidating at $83,000 ahead of the data release, but volatility is expected. Will inflation spark the next breakout or a sell-off?
