If you open Binance and feel like $ETH just keeps bleeding, you’re not alone. The feeling that Ethereum is stagnating or constantly falling has been the main topic of conversation in the market over the past few months.

But… why is this happening, and what can we expect as the year comes to a close?

1. Why is $ETH falling?

The recent downward pressure (with ETH trading in the $2,300–$2,500 range) is due to a combination of three main factors:

Institutional capital outflows (ETFs): Unlike Bitcoin, spot Ethereum ETFs have seen volatile capital flows and even net outflows during key weeks. Institutional investors are being more cautious with ETH.

Fierce competition from Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks: Much of the activity and transaction fees have shifted to Layer 2s (Base, Arbitrum, Optimism) and high-speed alternative chains (such as Solana). This reduces gas-burning revenue on the main network, putting downward pressure on the “ultrasound money” narrative.

Macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty: Interest rate adjustments and international tensions have led investors to seek refuge in lower-risk assets or concentrate liquidity almost exclusively in Bitcoin.

2. What can we expect over the coming weeks?

In the short term, Ethereum is testing key support levels. While Bitcoin tries to stabilize, ETH tends to move more slowly until liquidity rotates back into altcoins.

There is no sign of the ecosystem “dying” (it remains the network with the highest total value locked and the most smart contract development), but rather of a reaccumulation phase and a deleveraging process.

3. Trend and price projections for year-end

ETH’s performance toward the end of the year will depend on a recovery in risk appetite across the broader market:

Conservative / Sideways Scenario ($2,200 - $2,800): If institutional liquidity remains weak and the macroeconomic environment continues to weigh on the market, ETH will stay within this consolidation range without reaching new highs, forming a base for the next cycle.

Bullish Recovery Scenario ($2,800 - $3,400): If Bitcoin resumes its historic year-end momentum and ETH ETFs begin recording steady inflows again, Ethereum could quickly reclaim the key $3,000 level.
