South Korean stocks have hit trading curbs again today. The KOSPI fell as much as 6%, SK Hynix dropped more than 10%, and SanDisk has also been plunging since yesterday.
Here we are at another familiar moment. We saw this scenario back in July: nearly the whole month was a downturn for semiconductors, but after early July, Bitcoin gradually climbed!
On July 2, I wrote that once the semiconductor tide went out, it would be good news for the crypto market. At the time, crypto was still near the bottom, while semiconductors were at a high. Even if just some of that money flowed into Bitcoin, it would still be a huge amount. So in early July, Bitcoin began rebounding from its low of 58,000 and eventually climbed as high as 65,000. That rally really saved the crypto market; otherwise, Bitcoin might actually have fallen to the 40,000s, just as many people predicted.

So this sharp selloff in memory stocks is actually good news for the crypto market. The main triggers for this crash are as follows:
China’s ChangXin Memory Technologies announced a new technological breakthrough that enables more memory cells to be packed into the same area. This technology challenges the dominance of traditional giants, and once China achieves a breakthrough, it can ramp up mass production very quickly!
On top of that, memory stocks have risen far too much over the past two years, and major investors are looking to pull out. This downward trend seems hard to stop.

It’s not just the memory sector—even optical module stocks have started falling, including GLW, LITE, and COHR, and AI-related communications stocks have also been dragged down.
This downturn really came as a surprise, because Bitcoin had just started to fall from elevated levels and was looking extremely vulnerable, with a major correction potentially just around the corner. But this semiconductor slump may have given the crypto market a bit of a lifeline.
This morning, Bitcoin found heavy buying around 81K after pulling back, then quickly rallied and reclaimed levels above 83K. This shows that dip-buying demand is still quite strong. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq fell 0.8% in early trading and hasn’t recovered much, which suggests Bitcoin is holding up better than U.S. stocks.
It’s possible that investors saw weakness in the memory sector and shifted some of their funds over. Although Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have continued to see outflows recently, the semiconductor sector’s weakness during this period could prompt some funds to flow back into crypto.
There’s also a CPI release this week, which is very important and will directly influence the FOMC meeting at the end of the month. A favorable CPI reading—meaning inflation is under control—would be good for the stock market and strengthen expectations for rate cuts later on. A disappointing reading showing that inflation remains unchecked would be bad for the market going forward.
That’s today’s market analysis. Feel free to share your thoughts!$BTC #比特币反弹至8.3万美元上方
