🔥 $PYTH trading volume up 238%: Does “100% of revenue used for buybacks” really mean a burn?

$PYTH has become one of tonight’s stronger-performing tokens with solid fundamentals backing it.

The price is currently around $0.086, up about 12% over 24 hours. Trading volume has climbed to around $93.66 million, up about 238% from the previous day. During that period, it reached a high of $0.0906.

The market is re-evaluating the “100% Rule” recently passed by Pyth DAO:

Going forward, the DAO will use 100% of the funds it receives from Pyth products to buy PYTH on the open market and transfer it to the PYTH Reserve. Compared with the previous approach—using only one-third of non-PYTH assets each month, with a new vote required every time—the new rule does create a more direct link between “product revenue → token demand.”

But there are two points that are easy to misinterpret:

❌ It does not mean 100% of all Pyth revenue goes toward buybacks.
✅ It means 100% of the funds the DAO actually receives from the relevant products are allocated to buybacks.

❌ A buyback is not the same as a burn.
✅ The PYTH purchased goes into the DAO’s reserve for future ecosystem development, contributors, and building; it is not permanently removed from circulation.

Also, the $11.5 million figure announced by the team is annual recurring revenue (ARR), not cash that has already been used to buy tokens in a single transaction. The actual buying pressure will depend on how much the DAO receives each month and the publicly verifiable on-chain execution records.

Here are three levels to watch next:

1️⃣ $0.0906
The current 24-hour high. A high-volume breakout followed by a successful retest would open the door to testing the psychological $0.10 level.

2️⃣ Around $0.086
Near the current price. Holding this level after trading volume cools would show that the market is willing to buy in at the new valuation range.

3️⃣ $0.080–$0.0761
If the price falls below $0.080 and fails to reclaim it quickly, watch out for a retest of the 24-hour low at $0.0761—a sign that the short-term premium from the buyback narrative is fading.

What’s really worth watching about this policy isn’t the words “100%,” but how much is actually bought each month, whether the purchases continue, and whether product revenue keeps growing.

Do you think a revenue-driven buyback model will lead to a revaluation of PYTH, or has the market already priced it in?
