In five years of trading, the lesson that cost me the most:
It wasn’t getting the direction wrong.
It wasn’t picking the wrong coin.
It was trading on emotion when I had no system.
When the market was good, I’d go all in and think I was a genius.
When conditions turned, I’d keep switching directions, get stopped out and then reverse my position—getting hit from both sides in the end.
Back then, I went through my trading records—
I always had a reason when I made money, and I always had a reason when I lost it.
The problem wasn’t whether my reasons were right.
It was that I had no consistent framework to keep myself in check.
Eventually, I forced myself to follow a system—
no matter how strong my feelings were, I wouldn’t act without a signal.
It was painful for a while, but my results became more consistent.
The difference between having a system and not having one, five years later, isn’t in the returns—it’s in your mindset.
