I’m going to pour a little cold water on this rebound 😅

$BTC climbed back to around 84,000
$ETH followed, returning to around 2,546
It looks pretty lively

But the liquidation data tells the real story
Over the past 24 hours, $164 million in positions were liquidated across the market
Shorts accounted for $114.6 million of that
Longs were under $50 million

Put simply
This wasn’t fresh money rushing in to buy
Short sellers got squeezed and were forced to cover, pushing prices up

Rallies driven by short squeezes have a certain character
They come fast, but have shallow foundations
Once the shorts are liquidated, the buying tends to dry up too

Here’s what’s interesting on the other side
Last Friday, U.S. spot BTC ETFs saw $487 million in daily outflows, the biggest in 90 days
Yet the price didn’t break below 80,000—instead, it climbed
The fact that bearish news can’t push prices down anymore is more worth watching than the rally itself

The Fear and Greed Index also rose from 61 to 69
Sentiment really is improving
But a trend reversal? I haven’t seen evidence of that yet

U.S. CPI is due Wednesday
That’s the real test this week

Do you think this is the start of a reversal, or will the rally fizzle out once the short squeeze is over?
Let’s talk in the comments—I’m curious to hear your take 👀
