Tokenization is slowly moving beyond the usual talk about putting government bonds and public stocks onchain.

Ondo’s latest move into private markets is another sign of where this sector could be heading: giving eligible investors onchain exposure to private companies, with 24/7 secondary-market trading.

What makes this interesting is the bigger shift happening around it. The IMF has been examining tokenized equity markets, Franklin Templeton is expanding tokenized asset distribution through a new collaboration, and Luxembourg is exploring a €1 billion blockchain bond.

These developments point to a financial system beginning to experiment with blockchain beyond crypto-native assets.

Personally, I think the real opportunity in tokenization isn't simply putting traditional assets onchain. It's making markets more accessible, improving how assets move, and potentially bringing liquidity to places where it has historically been limited.

Of course, tokenization doesn't automatically remove restrictions, investment risks, or liquidity problems. Private-market access still depends on eligibility and the rules governing each product.

But the direction is becoming clearer: the next major blockchain adoption story may come from financial assets, not just cryptocurrencies.
