📐 DeFi|Total Value Locked (TVL)
· What it is: TVL (Total Value Locked) is the total value, in U.S. dollars, of assets held in the smart contracts of a protocol or blockchain.
· Why it matters: An increase in TVL may also be driven by short-term funds attracted by incentives. When those incentives are reduced, these funds may quickly leave.
· Note: A high TVL doesn’t mean a protocol is safer. Protocols holding more funds are also more likely to attract attackers.
