The art of disconnecting to reconnect with your strategy

At first, it struck me as a naive idea, almost funny. In his book *Trading for a Living*, Dr. Alexander Elder recommends something straightforward: if the market frustrates or overwhelms you, disconnect for at least a month.
Go for a walk, spend time with your loved ones, enjoy life, and don’t look at your screens. He promises you’ll come back refreshed, with a clear mind and ready to face the market from a higher perspective.
When the day-to-day anxiety became too much, I remembered his advice and decided to try it. It was incredibly hard to break the habit of checking prices every minute. But the results came: today, I face the market with far less anxiety and renewed clarity in my trading.
In the crypto world, constant volatility makes us forget that the real moves don’t happen on the 15-minute chart, but in the development of the underlying infrastructure.
Projects like $XRP , $XLM , or $HBAR don’t build their institutional partnerships, payment rails, or integration into the global financial system based on whether today’s candle is green or red. Technological adoption and structural changes take time.
If you feel that the daily noise, alarmist headlines, and short-term trading are wearing you down, give it a try. Step away for a while. The market will still be there when you return, but your ability to make rational decisions and maintain a long-term thesis will have changed completely.

Sometimes, the best trading decision isn’t to buy or sell: it’s to close the screen and go for a walk.
