$S has surged over the past few days, and many people are talking about this week's airdrop burn. But on-chain data shows that only about 6.37 million tokens remain unclaimed in the airdrop contract.

Sonic is an EVM-compatible blockchain upgraded from Fantom. S is used to pay transaction fees and can also be staked with validators.

These are the portions of the Season 1 and Season 2 airdrops still locked in the contract. The deadline is October 15, Beijing time. After that, anyone can call the contract to burn any tokens that remain unclaimed.

When the official team announced this in April, the amount remaining in the contract was much larger. Most of it has been claimed over the past six months, or burned as a penalty for early claims, so only a small remainder will actually be burned.

Compared with S's total circulating supply, this amount is tiny. Saying it will suddenly tighten supply is a bit of an exaggeration; it's more like wrapping up the airdrop.

In the same announcement, the official team also said there would be no further airdrop token issuance. The remaining incentive allocation will be reserved for future targeted airdrops, rewards, or burns.
