🚨 $XRP A HIDDEN LEDGER FLAW IS REVEALED: DID A PATCH PROTECT ITS 100 BILLION SUPPLY? 🚨
Sometimes, the biggest threat to a blockchain isn’t a market crash, but a hidden bug in its code.
On October 9, XRP Ledger publicly disclosed a critical vulnerability in its payment engine that could have allowed attackers to create XRP available for spending without paying the full required amount.
The flaw involved an integer overflow when a payment processed multiple exchange offers. The calculation could overflow, causing the buyer to pay far less XRP than was credited to the sellers.
Developers fixed the issue in xrpld version 3.4.1, released on September 25, 2026. RippleX reported that there was no evidence the vulnerability had been exploited on public networks.
The disclosure also revealed a second vulnerability related to batch transactions, which was addressed on the mainnet on October 9.
My take: this goes beyond a routine software update. The maximum supply of 100 billion XRP is a fundamental part of its economic design. A flaw capable of bypassing that rule could have undermined confidence in the ledger’s accounting integrity.
The positive sign is the response: rapid patch deployment, validator coordination, and stronger safeguards. But the incident also raises an important question about how long critical vulnerabilities can go unnoticed.
XRP was trading at around $1.40, up over 24 hours, when Binance market data was checked. That, by itself, does not prove that the security disclosure is going to , contain them and fix them.
❓ . Crypto assets involve significant risks.
