The dividend has arrived, but the dollar balance in my spot wallet hasn’t moved at all.
Late on October 10, Binance announced that ORCLB’s quarterly dividend had been credited: $0.5 per share, paid out in newly issued ORCLB. What you receive is more units, not cash in dollars.
The rules were laid out in detail in Binance’s October 6 announcement. After withholding tax and other fees are deducted, the remaining net amount is automatically reinvested in the same asset, including fractional units. The snapshot was taken at 08:00 (UTC+8) on October 9. Deposits, withdrawals, and 1:1 conversions were suspended from 07:30 that day, while spot trading was unaffected. For those holding the token on-chain, the adjustment is applied proportionally; they don’t need to do anything.
One timing difference is worth noting: Oracle is following its own schedule, and this cash dividend won’t be paid to shareholders of record until October 23. But ORCLB units had already been added late on the 10th.
These U.S. stock tokens are issued by BTech Holdings, an entity affiliated with Binance Group, under an approved prospectus in Abu Dhabi Global Market. According to the official description, each token represents a 1:1 interest in U.S. stocks held by a licensed custodian. They only launched this June. The tokens represent an entitlement, but the shares aren’t registered in the holders’ names, so dividends can only be credited to their accounts as newly issued units. I’ll check my account statement to make sure those fractional units have been credited correctly.
24-hour trading is only the outer layer. The backend plumbing—dividends, withholding tax, stock splits, and the like—is what determines whether these things can be held as serious assets. With ORCLB’s dividend now processed, the next test will be stock splits and more complex corporate actions. That’s when we’ll see how well this backend really works.
