#XRP账本修复可增发XRP的漏洞
In crypto, we’ve seen hackers steal coins and exchanges lose coins. But have you ever seen a vulnerability that nearly let someone “print” $XRP out of thin air?

Honestly, when I saw this news, my first thought was: this thing had been hiding for over a decade?

The XRP Ledger team disclosed that its developers had fixed a critical vulnerability in the payment engine. The issue was an integer overflow. In theory, an attacker could exploit it by crafting an unusual transaction to generate $XRP that shouldn’t exist—and those coins could still be transferred and traded normally.

Most alarming of all, the very security check designed to prevent XRP from being created out of thin air could potentially be bypassed using the same vulnerability.
This wasn’t just an ordinary system bug.

The value of $XRP is largely built on established supply rules and market trust. If someone could really bypass those rules and create an unlimited supply, what would scarcity even mean?

Fortunately, researchers discovered the vulnerability through a bug bounty program, and it was fixed in version 3.4.1, released on September 25. The team also explicitly stated that there is currently no evidence the vulnerability was ever exploited on a public network.

But I think the biggest takeaway here isn’t simply that the vulnerability has been fixed and everything is fine.

How can a blockchain system that’s been running for over a decade still harbor a problem of this severity? Who can claim their underlying code is absolutely secure?

Of course, proactively discovering, fixing, and publicly disclosing the issue is commendable.

I’ve always felt that real confidence in blockchain security doesn’t come from never having problems. It comes from being able to detect and resolve them quickly, and to explain the facts clearly.

Coin prices may fluctuate, but the underlying rules must never be allowed to fail.

XRP dodged a bullet this time. Do you see this as proof of technical strength, or as a serious security wake-up call?
