It’s long overdue that automakers’ boastful marketing—where a PowerPoint demo is passed off as a product delivery—was put on a tighter leash. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other government departments have issued a notice seeking public comment. It explicitly states that automakers must not make false, exaggerated or misleading claims, or encourage drivers to neglect their responsibility for safe driving. From now on, they shouldn’t casually use traffic-violating scenarios to promote features; they should first clearly explain the limits and conditions of use.
