ChainCatcher reports, citing Reuters, that Nuvacore, a chip startup backed by Sequoia Capital, is seeking to raise hundreds of millions of dollars at a valuation of approximately $2.5 billion.

Founded just six months ago, Nuvacore has already completed a seed funding round led by Sequoia Capital. The company has yet to launch a product and plans to develop a new central processing unit (CPU) for data centers. As demand for computing power from AI applications continues to grow, the data center CPU market has attracted investor interest. CPUs are used to coordinate tasks performed by AI chips and run autonomous AI software agents, and can be optimized for the computing tasks common in data centers and AI infrastructure.
