Markets are awaiting the release of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes, and there’s one question everyone wants answered:
Will the Federal Reserve raise interest rates again in October, or will it finally pause rate hikes?
For now, the probability of another 25-basis-point rate hike has fallen to just 21.6%.
This is already a major shift.
The Federal Reserve already raised interest rates to 3.75%–4.00% in September, but recent data has started to change the picture.
The labor market is starting to show signs of weakness, inflation is easing, and the prospect of another rate hike in the near term is less certain than before
And this matters for Bitcoin.
High interest rates can keep liquidity tight and make investors more cautious about taking risks
If the Federal Reserve temporarily pauses rate hikes, that could ease some pressure on financial markets and improve overall sentiment.
This doesn’t mean Bitcoin will automatically rise, but it could give BTC a more favorable environment for an upswing.
Still, there’s something else I’m watching.
The dollar and Treasury yields both matter here.
If yields continue to rise and the dollar stays strong, Bitcoin could remain under pressure even if the Federal Reserve temporarily pauses rate hikes.
Tonight’s minutes could trigger significant volatility.
A dovish Federal Reserve ← fewer fears of rate hikes ← improved risk sentiment ← Bitcoin could benefit.
A hawkish Federal Reserve ← fears of rates staying higher for longer ← a stronger dollar and higher yields ← greater pressure on crypto
Interestingly, the market is already leaning toward expecting a pause.
The question is whether the Federal Reserve will confirm these expectations or push back against them.
👀 Could an October pause finally give Bitcoin buyers some much-needed breathing room, or will the Federal Reserve surprise the market again?
I’m keeping a close eye on BTC, Treasury yields, and interest rate expectations.
