BlockBeats News, Oct. 9: According to Lookonchain, a user bought 80 BTC about four months ago at a price of $65,000 each, investing approximately $5.2 million. The position was at one point up about $1.38 million on paper. However, a week ago, the user purchased a Ledger hardware wallet from the third-party reseller CryptoBillis and transferred all 80 BTC to it. The funds have now been stolen in full.
The incident is linked to recent cases in which funds belonging to several CryptoBillis customers were stolen. However, it has not been confirmed whether the device was tampered with, what the specific attack method was, or who the attacker was.
