Came across this on Decrypt: Orca, a veteran DEX on Solana, and lending protocol Loopscale have merged to form a new company called Formation, headquartered in New York. Loopscale co-founder Luke Truitt is the CEO. The two sides didn’t disclose the terms of the deal.

The plan is to bring trading, credit, and vaults together in one package: when an issuer lists an asset, liquidity, lending, and vaults can all launch at once. Orca says it has processed more than approximately $550 billion in trading volume since 2021; Loopscale says it has had over approximately $150 million in deposits and facilitated more than approximately $2 billion in loans. Existing positions will continue as usual, and Loopscale’s lending and vaults will keep running. The unified platform will use $ORCA ; Loopscale won’t issue a separate token, and points can be redeemed before year-end.

The focus isn’t just crypto trading—they want to take assets in areas like AI, energy, robotics, and defense, where traditional financing tends to be expensive, from issuance through financing to trading. Decrypt also reported that they plan to use the SEC’s five-year innovation exemption announced on September 17 to launch a permissioned AMM pool for tokenized U.S. stocks, while pursuing additional licenses. The product may not be available to U.S. persons. The Block added that they are already working with Figure, Shinhan Asset Management, Superstate, R3, Securitize, and others.

A leading Solana DeFi market maker and a credit protocol are joining forces to pursue tokenized securities and real-world financing—a more substantive direction than simply rebranding the narrative.
