STRK rose 41% in a day—and it’s still only under consideration
Starknet is still an Ethereum Layer 2. On October 8, the team said it was “actively considering becoming an L1,” with the goal of becoming fully quantum-resistant by 2027—two years ahead of Ethereum’s 2029 target.
After the announcement, $STRK rose from 0.0531 to 0.0749 on Binance spot in 24 hours, up around 41%, with approximately $59 million in trading volume.
The issue is that there’s no formal proposal, no governance vote, and no new architecture announced yet. Futures open interest rose 53% in 24 hours, and futures trading volume was about five times spot volume, with leverage accounting for most of the activity.
Next, watch to see whether a governance proposal is actually put forward. Around 127 million tokens are also due to unlock on October 15.
The easiest thing to misread here is “considering a move to L1” as “the decision has been made.” Make sure you understand the details before chasing the rally.
