API3’s wick is looking interesting.

One 15m candle surged 3.34%, with volume hitting 5.69x and a Z-score of 6.15. This kind of move isn’t something retail traders can drive. The key is OI: 15m futures OI is up 0.42%, and 1h OI is up 0.33%. Price is rising and open interest is rising with it, strongly suggesting new leveraged longs are entering—not just a hollow pump from shorts closing.

Looking closer, the taker buy/sell volume difference is 27%, with a buy/sell ratio of 1.74, so aggressive buyers are clearly in control. The close also broke straight above the upper end of the past 20 or so 5m candles’ range. Depth confirms it too—volume is above normal, and price is hugging a recent boundary.

It’s at the 98th percentile for anomalies, ranked #6 across the whole pool, and #40 for notional change. It’s nearing the extreme end of its own historical range. With 24h trading volume at 18.83M, it’s one of the more active names in the pool.

My personal take: this setup is either a breakout or a classic bull trap. With volume, price, and open interest all aligned, I’m more inclined to cautiously follow the move—but I absolutely wouldn’t chase the tip of a wick. Wait for a retest; if volume holds up and OI doesn’t collapse, that’s the real deal.
