Trump made 517 trades in August, nailing the bottom on Meta for a 32% gain

On October 9, the U.S. Office of Government Ethics disclosed Trump’s August securities trading report, showing a total of 517 trades for the month. The biggest eye-catcher was his purchase of up to $25 million in Meta stock on August 21 (about 179 million yuan). By the report date, the share price had surged 32%. That same day, he also snapped up shares of AT&T, ConocoPhillips, Abbott Laboratories, Netflix and Chevron, with each trade valued at $1 million to $5 million. On August 18, he also bought SpaceX senior unsecured notes from Elon Musk, with a 5.35% coupon and a 2031 maturity, in a similar amount.

He was also cashing in on the sell side: on August 21, he reduced his holdings in AMD and Church & Dwight (valued at $1 million to $5 million each), and fully exited Boeing, Home Depot, T-Mobile, Datadog, Dell, Palo Alto Networks, Nvidia and others (valued at $500,000 to $1 million each). The White House had previously emphasized that an independent third party manages the portfolio and that Trump himself does not place specific orders.
