#strk is currently priced at around $0.056, with a circulating market cap of approximately $410 million. Starknet plans to move beyond being solely an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) network and transition to an independent L1, aiming to build a quantum-resistant public blockchain by 2027.

The reason is that advances in quantum computing and AI could threaten existing cryptographic signature technologies, while the ZK-STARK technology used by Starknet has the potential to resist quantum attacks. However, a technological advantage does not guarantee a successful transition.

StarkWare has raised $282.5 million at a valuation of $8 billion, but DeFi total value locked is now only around $160 million, and daily fees amount to just a few thousand dollars.
