After spending enough time in the coin world, you’ll notice a pretty interesting phenomenon.
People who shout about hot topics in groups every day, chase new coins, and post trade screenshots often fade away after a while.
But those who truly grow their account step by step are usually a few quiet, seemingly “bored” people.
I know a guy like that. He doesn’t really read messages, and he doesn’t care which sector is pumping today or which concept is trending tomorrow.
His approach sounds too simple—you might think it’s almost laughable: only look at the daily chart, wait for a pullback, enter in batches. If it hits the stop-loss, you leave. If you reach your target, you take profit and close.
Over the course of a year, the number of times he actually places trades can be counted on two hands.
Yet his account keeps climbing year after year.
In contrast, those who stare at the gainers list every day chase this today and that tomorrow. When the market is hot, they do make money quickly—but when things change, the drawdowns come hard and fast. By the end of the year, they might find the account is still going in circles.
It’s not that they’re not smart. It’s that they spend all their energy looking for opportunities, but forget that what truly matters in trading is repeating a simple method correctly.
Hot topics come fast and go just as fast. If you chase in today, you might just buy at the peak of emotion.
Meanwhile, a plain and simple method is slower, but it has one advantage—it doesn’t rely on luck. When the signal arrives, you act. When it doesn’t, you wait. When you’re wrong, you admit it. Over time, you’ll notice your account’s fluctuations get smaller and your equity curve becomes steadier.
I was like that too—I came from the phase of chasing hot trends. Later, I gradually realized: the market never rewards the most diligent person. It rewards the person with the most patience.
You don’t need to catch every move. You just need to reliably take the portion you should during the few opportunities that belong to you. As for everything else—no matter how violently it rallies—it has nothing to do with you.
So don’t keep thinking other people’s methods are too “stupid.” A method that you can actually stick with is a skill in itself.
Those seemingly boring rules—trading with light positions, cutting losses, staying flat, waiting for signals—are the things that truly keep you alive in this market. If you take them seriously, they will eventually pay you back.
Now, if you’re stuck in a losing position or about to blow up, think back—did you chase a pile of hot trends while not following a single rule? Are you always hunting for opportunities, but forgetting to first stay alive?
It’s not that the method doesn’t work—you just haven’t repeated the simple stuff correctly.
