Joking aside, the sharp drop in $BTC really confirms the curse that it always falls whenever there’s a major meeting.
But seriously, the shorts’ counterattack and the liquidation of longs didn’t come out of nowhere—there are macroeconomic factors behind it.
First, U.S. Treasury yields are once again nearing record highs. Institutions will naturally favor safe assets with high returns, and crypto is one of the first risky assets they’ll dump.
Second, oil prices have surged above $100 again. Inflation pushes everyone toward safer assets and lowers their risk appetite—another heavy blow to crypto.
Finally, at last night’s meeting, the option to raise interest rates passed unanimously, with all 19 votes in favor. So although everyone expects rates to remain unchanged in October, the odds of a rate hike in December are 65%. Not raising rates in October is nothing more than a stalling tactic Trump came up with to get through the midterm elections.
So the four-year cycle for $BTC has changed this time around. We won’t see a new low in October; it might be pushed to December, or we might just keep surging upward from here.
I’m bullish. What do you all think?
