BTC just fell below $84,000, yet last week a U.S.-listed company went against the trend and bought 2,000 $BTC
Strive (Nasdaq: ASST) disclosed in an SEC 8-K filing on October 5 that it spent about $169 million to buy 2,000 bitcoin between September 28 and October 2, at an average price of $84,422.
A few details:
1️⃣ This was its biggest weekly purchase since June, and the purchase price was more than 6% below its average cost at the end of September ($90,170).
2️⃣ Most of the money came from issuing preferred stock (61.5%)—essentially taking on debt to stockpile bitcoin.
3️⃣ Its total holdings have reached 29,462 BTC, just 6,115 short of MARA’s.
What to make of it: With BTC repeatedly capped at $87,000 and ETF flows coming and going, bitcoin treasury companies aren’t focused on short-term sentiment; they’re sticking to the “cheap” thesis. Strategy also added 334 BTC over the same period (bringing its total holdings to 848,000)—even among institutions buying the dip, the size of their purchases varies dramatically. This kind of buying is a slow-moving force, so don’t expect it to support prices in the short term. But coins are indeed moving off the market and onto the balance sheets of publicly traded companies.
